Kenya is a country economically but an individual politically. It is very open and candid that Kenya only unites in the annals of commerce where products are exchanged at the altar of friendship and mutualism. Turn around and bury yourself into politics the country rapidly changes into a house in disarray. The worms of hate float on the surface and the ugly side of politics start slowly metamorphosing out of that cocoon of lies that it has forever lain.
The stem of most political parties in Kenya has always been
tribe. KADU was formed to represent minority tribes while KANU was representing
the majority tribes. As Musalia steps into the political arena it will be interesting
to see how the events will unfold. It will be quite impressive to watch how
events of the coming months will reveal the audacity of Mudavadi.
Let me emphatically
hit on the impeding issue, was Mudavadi bought or did he just make that, ULTIMATE
CHOICE? Did he just wake up to a realization
that his teenager politicians had grown into adulthood and were now gaining
popularity while he was still sucking on his thumb? That is a question for
another day. With UDF in tow we expect so much to play in the Kenya’s political
arena.
Been contemplating and evaluating the politics that have
been playing part in the front since Uhuru Kenyatta resigned as the finance
minister. If you monitor the events closely, there is a master chess player
using his pawns well to protect the king.
Let me take you back to 2002 when Mudavadi first made that
controversial move back to KANU. Many would think that, that was his point of
weakness or act of cowardice to challenge the master in whose wing he sought
refuge. There were many factors that played out to ache out that move which to
some might be clear but to others are raising eyebrows. Still it could be
looked as a game to disarm Raila who found refuge in Kibaki and Kibaki did not
disappoint. Musalia could be looked at as that dog that backs for all the wrong
reasons, that 2002 step back only signified a betrayal that any political king
maker would never forgive. It also killed the confidence of the people in him. No
wonder he never made it to the cabinet. In
those early days of Musalia backing Uhuru, I remember he made a landing at
chamakanga, his home tuff, in a chopper and was almost beaten, the anger on the
masses evident.
Raila and Kibaki became allies in the first glitter of the
NARC regime until they fell out and Raila launched his own ambition. He took in
his arm, the cold Musalia Mudavadi and tethered him to become his second in
command. If anything is to be said Raila is one of the bitter men in the
country presently. He builds the wave of NARC and later was betrayed by Kibaki.
He took Mudavadi in during the ODM revolution and Mudavadi, just like he did in
2002, defected to UDF, a party which raises eyebrows to those who see sense and
can read between the lines. It will be interesting to see how Mudavadi as a
lonely curb ventures into the political wild.
The year 2002 was a year which the many facets of Kenyan
elites were brought onto the surface. Many laughed out at MOI, taking him as
the biggest loser. Kibaki, Moi’s close ally, played a convincing role of
showing the former tenant of the house on the hill a well crafted sneer, which
more than amused the public as they ranted on, “everything is possible without
Moi”
Many would come to see Moi as the greatest loser, yet the
man left statehouse laughing at the foolish Kenyan citizens. Moi had perfected
the art of trickery; he knew that if he removed Mudavadi from Raila’s side, the
son of Odinga will have no option to play than take Kibaki a perfect father in
whose wing the young Uhuru will learn the art of leadership. And Kibaki has
done just that. Kibaki was once a finance minister in Moi’s regime and if
history is to play tact, Uhuru has passed through the treasury. This shows a
well calculated move by Moi that is now just revealing the fruits the old man
from Sacho is enjoying. Belching and having the last laugh.
In the months that have preceded Musalia’s migration from
ODM, so many events have been happening. I said that there is a perfect chess player
in the game here. This chess player has been removing Raila’s pawns in a well
crafted manner. One by one Raila’s inner circle has disintegrated. This chess
player sacrificed a seat from central Kenya and precariously placed it in
western Kenya on one of the presidential contenders from the region. By so
doing, he had already established a status quo. The game was on. Now the hard
task was to rip of Raila’s close ally.
Musalia Mudavadi is
not just an easy guy to pull. He has his principles and ego to protect.
Meanwhile, there was something that would make him, just be the perfect bait.
Show him the perfect paths, and an easy road and you will win him over. He can
never be bought, he only needs a perfectly laid out plan and he will fall for
it. And that is exactly what happened. Musalia leaves the undemocratic ODM and
joins the DEMOCRATIC UDF! Alas, ODM is on rocks!
One thing the proletariat does not understand is that
politics is a game controlled by stakeholders who know how to manouevre. So
many people know who the ghosts behind UDF are but they would rather ignore it.
Kenya has its owners. We continue playing in politics while the owners click
glasses in celebrations.
Let us look at what Mudavadi has to offer. The son of Mudamba is a liberal
conservative, just like the sitting president. Why do I say so, Mudavadi, the
onetime vice-president of Kenya, does not just make rational decisions without
giving a glance to what the very decision might bring to the table. That is one
quality that Raila lacks. Raila on the other hand is a radical. My evaluation
of this man from the lake is that, he is that leader who can steer Kenya to
heights unimagined but be an ultimate failure. Why? The reason is simple; Kenya
is still a tender economy which demands patience to wake into a first class
economy.
Radicalism could work well with the emerging youth
entrepreneurs if my guess is to be right, but there are those Kenyan
conservatives, who run the country’s economy who wouldn’t be pleased with the
policies which Raila is standing for. Therefore, this school of anti-radicals
has found bait enough to pull Mudavadi to their side. One thing that you should
note is; this conservative class is looking for somebody who could protect
their interests. Going by the way Raila Odinga propelled the destruction of buildings
when he was the roads minister; I believe nobody would love to have such a
leader. If Musalia is to play a perfect game for Kenya, then he should learn
the tact of a rat, that is, biting without letting the bitten feel the pain. Only
that will make him win the love of Kenya and admiration from not only the proletariat
but also the undermined in the country. And that is where the quality of his
liberal conservative plays out well. I wish he uses it well to rip Kenya off
from its owners and place it in the hands of the common mwanainchi.
I strongly believe that some people think that, the people
of the slopes are eyeing their very own to take over from Kibaki. Kill that
from your mind, the silence by the leaders from that part of the country,
clearly inundates the stand of the most of them. Clandestine observation has
shown that a majority or rather a significant number of them would vote in a
leader from the other parts of the country. Western being spot on. The reason
is; they don’t want to create so much enemity with the rest of the country. As
I said, Kenya is a country only in business, and so them (those from the
slopes) have interests diverse any dent will mean a sore in the business environment.
My observation points out to a fact that Musalia is the man
with the quality enough to act as the cover of the interest of this ‘secret
society.’ He also has some skeletons in the closet as you may know, if you
don’t that is better.
As we prepare for the elections, let us look for a leader
who has the national outlook. Pay attention to those outside. Those who have
interest in changing this country and have little voice to do so. We should not
just overfeed on two or three leaders, singing the same old song when some
songs unsung are sweet to the ear that those sung. Kenya is waiting for us to
make a decision, universal decision for her to begin. Kibaki’s administration
has just set the bus Kenya on the idle mode. We should therefore look for the perfect
starter to that unity and peace and understanding and equitable distribution of
resources and the balance of nature, hence free roll this country to
prosperity.
