THE MOMBASA RETREAT IS JUST A TREAT


It is solemnly cold in Nairobi, Kenya’s business hub and administrative city. Our Members of parliament would have had quite a chance to discuss well in the embracing cold but instead what did they do? Went to the coast where heat is imminent for a retreat! Outrageous indeed!

My belief is that when the temperatures are sizzling cold that is the time to think. The cold has the affinity to make the body numb and the mind proactive, I believe. But what is this nutcase about going in Mombasa for a retreat? 

The warm climate of Mombasa will instead offer a suitable environment for dozing off. Many of those attending the retreat have had a chance to belch out what they are eating in a peaceful slumber as they dream on the future of Kenyan heckling.
Others in attendance are business people religious leaders and some civil society leaders. I don’t have issues with them because; the religious leaders are known to pass through tormenting temperatures converting wolves into sheep. The civil society members are always angry with the government especially when it comes on spending and corruption. How would you then expect an angry individual to sleep? Unbelievable! The business communities on the other hand do not even have a wink at night because they spent their entire night trying to think on how to out manouevre the government and gain an extra coin, how then will they sleep?
The MPs are the common lot. Theirs is a world of sleeping in the parliament. Therefore when offered suitable environmental conditions and enough food, the guys will be already in slumber land before the president could start his speech.
Now tell if the Mombasa retreat is really a retreat or a treat. Am tempted to believe otherwise. Am more than sure that 90% of those members of parliament will be on the forefront forfeiting what had just been discussed hours after the RE-‘treat’. They will be the old dog with the same old tricks.
One thing I have come to learn about our politics is that we never learn from mistakes but instead bury our heads in the sand and repeat the same mistake. The blame solely lies with the common mwanainchi. It is that wanjiku who either has refused to see or has resigned to what fate has to offer.
Our problem is the lukewarm view of what really ails us. It is like we have said that let it be whatever is. And the sleeping continues.

         Mudete Tea Factory is located in Vihiga county of Western Kenya. The factory Is to serve the Tea rich Western Kenya especially Vihiga county which receives an annual rainfall of about 1500mm to 2000mm. NEGATIVE CULTURAL PRACTICES AMONG THE PEOPLE OF NASILA IN BLOSSOMS OF THE SAVANNAH

The book Blossoms of the Savannah explores both the positive and negative cultural practices. H.
