COULD IT BE THE MONEY!!

Ladies have just become too much to bear. They have the zeal and the strength to go on. You spot them gracefully spotting the streets as if they belong. Gyrating, they wobble across the city streets embellishing cheap tops turvy expensive cologne and hiding behind a mask of makeup. Are they up to something? No one knows.
Just wait when they empty the contents of their hand bags, which they rarely do, that is when you realize that our ladies have more on their sleeves than one could hold. Oh! Sorry, they never have sleeves nowadays, it’s sleeveless.
If you were waiting for bottle of soda and some tattered tissues and maybe a sanitary pad and an extra panty or in that case a neckerchief, you are mistaken! Hey! Their hand bags now contain something else, several classy phones, an iPod, earphones, several ATM’s, credit and debit cards and other expensive accessories. Yea, you guessed it right, just like soap opera ladies.
The manner in which they gestulate with several handcuffs, oh! Bangles, or are they? On their hands you see heaven in their eyes! They have literally gotten the status, ‘of the owners of the world’
Wait! Don’t get your hopes high, if you are a potential bachelor out there. Hey she is not into you! She is a college girl, a university student perhaps, performed very well in high school winning admiration from her peers and elders in her distant village somewhere. That is how she earned her passport to the city; to pursue further studies. With accolades and pride flowing from all corners, she walks in the blessings and trust of her parents. Her innocence would create no doubt that after Mary, the mother of Jesus; she is the next holy thing!
Most ladies get from the villages in pursuit of educational prowess, a preserve of towns. When they get there, life is not dreamy as they did expect but rather indifferent. The only option is to get down and do the calculating, for to survive you must be tactical.
These young girls only have one way of survival, hanging onto the only thing that they possess; their innocence. Innocence is a tool that can down even a hardened soul. Therefore our young ones armed with this vital tool caress night clubs and hang onto ‘men of substance.’ That is where trouble begins.
My question is are they into these game for the love of the money or is it for the sense of maturity and care this well to do belly movers show that moves our ladies? One thing I have to admit is that, these old geezers have perfected the art of lie and seduction that even a flat footed lady will have to fall for. Hence making them more eligible candidates for these ladies. One more thing is that they never have any hurry to taste the forbidden fruits since this will make the bait overly insecure. Their moves are calculated and show a cool demeanor to disarm the lady, a quality the young stalkers lack.
My admittance though does not remove the doubt. Is it because of the money? Well, partly yes, partly it maybe they also do not know what they are looking for. They are just into it since they are also bound to play.
My arguments is that, given that money has become the only way to luxury, then this girls are into it for money! For, who really wants to laugh on a bicycle a rickety one for that matter? They had rather borrow the adage; a smile is only what people see and not what you feel deep inside.
Some claim that, those guys they might decide to fall for are bound to break their and make them suffer. They incline to the married men for they are not going to hurt them since they already know that he is committed. She is just a side dish.
The reasons might be numerous, explanation mind blowing but what remains thereof is that; we are in for big game. And making the ultimate just to be or not to be has just all the same become our antidote to survival. If you spot them outside with their canvas like handbag, know that the bag carries more to it than you can afford. So, beat it brother!

POSITIVE ASPECTS OF NASILIAN CULTURE IN BLOSSOMS OF THE SAVANNAH

SOME ASPECTS OF CULTURE ARE BENEFICIAL AND OUGHT TO BE MAINTAINED. USING EXAMPLES FROM THE NOVEL, BLOSSOMS OF THE SAVANNAH, WRITE A COMPOSITION TO ILLUSTRATE THE TRUTH OF THE STATEMENT Culture defines our identity and social relationships within a certain setup. Sometimes, some cultural aspects come off as bad while others can be looked at as good. However, culture only becomes bad when compared to another that seems superior. Many African communities found themselves at crossroads when the ‘superior’ European culture was thrown down their gullets. Nevertheless, many African cultures have grown into what they are today while some have retained what can be perceived as negative cultural practices. In the book Blossoms of the Savannah, H.R Kulet presents a boiling pot of cultural confusion within the Maa community specifically the people of Nasila. As we can see, some of the Nasilian cultural practices can be beneficial to the wellbeing of society and, therefore, should be maintaine

NEGATIVE CULTURAL PRACTICES AMONG THE PEOPLE OF NASILA IN BLOSSOMS OF THE SAVANNAH

The book Blossoms of the Savannah explores both the positive and negative cultural practices. H. R Kulet describes intimately those cultural practices he believes are best and on the other hand, lets us in on some of the cultural practices he believe were injurious. Interestingly, the negative cultural practices are aimed at women. The most poignant cultural practice that negatively affects women is Female genital mutilation. Although according to Parmuat, the practice was started by women to resist the evil Ilarinkoi, it continued to cause wanton pain and torture on women. Taiyo and Resian are determined to fight it. Resian manages to evade the brutal practice however Taiyo barely makes it having been forcibly cut. FGM is a global menace affecting millions of women in Africa and Asia. Although its benefits are only anthropological, its effects are very damning and could lead to death.  Second among the negative Nasilian culture is early marriage. Resian still has goals to fu

THE THEME OF INHERITANCE IN THE PLAY INHERITANCE BY DAVID MULWA

Inheritance refers to what is left by the deceased to the family in material wealth or sometimes power. However, the word could have diverse meanings when applied to works of literature. In this respect, David Mulwa looks at inheritance in various ways. The play revolves around a three decades old Kutula under its new leadership. Having achieved independence from colonial masters, Kutula is now governed by Lacuna Kasoo-the son of pre-independence King Kutula XV. Lacuna ascended to power after the death of his father. Although the King has adopted Princess Sangoi as his successor, he dies mysteriously thus handing the power to the greedy, self-centred Lacuna. As it were, Lacuna conspired with the colonial masters to assassinate his father King Kutula XV. Having assumed power with the help of colonial masters, Lacuna runs the government under the influence of Kutula’s former imperialists. He receives hefty loans aimed at ‘developing’ the country. However, the loans are meant to make Kutu
