WHY I AM NOT ATTENDING THE PEACE CONFERENCES

Let us be realistic and not just face the lies of our realities. We are living in a highly volatile world, very wild indeed. It is true that Kenya needs peace and she needs it now, especially this time when we are headed for elections. As we lead and attend these workshops and conferences, the questions we fail to answer are: What is the cause of all these unrests we experience during the elections? How, in our very own way, have we tried to address the causes of upheavals in this country? Are we really serious that we yearn for peace? Are we in a state of peaceful coexistence before we scream for peace in other circles? How then are we going to call for peace and yet we are stepping on our brother’s toe?                These fundamental questions have no answers in my own point of view. Why?   Because we are not yet ready to answer them. Those of u...

MINING GOLD IN LONDON

As much as we are quick to blame our Team Kenya for abysmal performance in the London Olympics, there is one thing we should learn from them or teach them: Success is unity with individual input. There is more of being my brother’s keeper that our young brothers and sisters are doing out there. Whenever a race starts, you will see members of the Team Kenya converse as they strategize, on how to win the race. That is number one sin; “ thou shalt not plan for how to win the war during the battle you will definitely loose.”   Another thing that has discredited the Team Kenya is, waiting for the team counter part to come forth and be close behind. That is, they are eyeing for a double or a treble. That is fundamental good, impregnable and strategic plan. It boosts the teamwork and the unity that has forever been stronger. However, in the quest of strategizing for team victory, the athletes commit sin number two; “ Thou shalt not withdraw back when you have charged towards the en...

TALK OF CAMPAIGNS THE KENYAN STYLE

If someone asked me whether there were any campaigns going on in Kenya, I would have looked at them pitifully and said NO! Personally, I have not seen any election campaigns going on. What I predominantly see is a baby game going on. Something close to kalongo or mchongoano. Politicians have of course been traversing the country in search of votes. We are experiencing a renewed sense of awareness as fuel guzzlers slowly snake their way into the dungeons of the country in what could be seen as getting in touch with the masses. This indeed is one awesome experience. The common mwanainchi is now getting to know who their leaders really are. There is that form of acquaintance between the leaders and the lead. We are now seeing the magnet that binds us Kenyans onto the politicians we really adore. There is of course that sense of awareness as the citizenry slowly try to associate the images on TV or the voices on radio with the façade they see in rallies every weekend. If what I ...

POLICY IMPLEMENTATION IN KENYA IS ALWAYS A MIRAGE

Kenya has the best minds when it comes to making impregnable policies. The policies we have are not just policies but a reflection of what Kenya should be for the well being of its progeny. The committee that Kenya makes are usually composed of unbreakable minds. Sad news is that these committees are normally word oriented and not action oriented.           The new constitution was conceived inn 2010 and since then the implementation has gone from one ridge to the other in trying to implement some elements of it. The judiciary was one of the arms that needed emergency resuscitation since the successive governments had tried as much as they can to mutilate, rape and maim it to their advantage. Given the freedom the powers that be enjoyed from judicial immunity this arm has suffered some major bumps to achieve the independence it so deserves. After so much strain and noise the judiciary finally conceded...

SUNSET DATE DOWN THE REMINISCE

Yesterday the date was down the memory lane. At Reminisce every one who enjoy the ever fresh glow of the golden years was all ears as the Sundowner crew engulfed the club Reminisce. Club Reminisce is located at the mouth of Wilson airport along Langata highway. You break onto your right just when you are about to enter the airport and avoid hitting into the Red Cross Offices. The ambience was cool for an evening date. The old mingled freely with the young as music slowly stole the show sending old age through the window.     The day that started with horrifying temperatures slowly went calm as the evening wore down. That temperature was restored at the Reminisce when the Sundowner Crew landed. Their music unmatched with the wine in the cellar slowly brought life   into the otherwise dying day.       The   romance started with the sundowner host, the ever ebullient Catherine Ndonye, a woman with beauty unma...

SABA SABA ONLY THE PAIN REGRETTABLE, THE FRUITS A MIRAGE, AND THE GREED SALIVARY

Looking back in the years of monoparty monopoly one sighs a sigh of relief at the relish at which Kenya can yarn political parties at night and by day sing to its tune. It is quite a pity to think that this is what saba saba was to stand for. If saba saba was to chuck Moi out of power then it took it 14 years to do so. If its aim was to get a new constitution then you had to add  6 more years   to the fourteen to achieve that end. If the aim of that Kamukunji meeting was to put Kenya into democracy, then they had never anticipated this.    Saba saba can be looked at as stone thrown by a bird to kill a bird, when that bird was never killed then the interests of the birds to be killed were united with those of the bird that was to kill. If you do not know saba saba that I am referring to, the let me let you on it; this was a day that the campaigners for democracy and against the queue voting came together to fight against the dictatorial M...

WHEN THE MIRROR BREAKS

I dont know if it is the mirror that broke or if it is the recklessness that has hindered our foresight into hindsight. At 49 kenyans should be well versed with the truth out of the lies and the lies out of the truth. It hurts when the truth of a lie is taken as the truth out of a lie. And when those of us who spill the truth are viewed as liars. When will we learn to believe what we see?
